George E. Hess, 62, of Clarion, died on Friday, April 25, 2014.

Born August 15, 1951 in Punxsutawney; he was the son of the late George E. and Hazel Sprankle Hess. Since the age of 8, he was raised by his adopted mother, Judy Huey.

A veteran, George served in the United States Marines.

He was married on May 12, 2000, to the former Kelly Raisley, and she survives.

George worked in the logging business his entire life, owning his own log truck and business.

He was an avid hunter, enjoyed watching NASCAR, four wheeler riding, and loved spending time with is dogs, Kasey, Tug, Jack, and Duke. He also enjoyed going to Country Fair to talk to friends and have coffee.

In addition to his wife, Kelly, he is survived by his four children, Cathy MacKinlay and her husband, Robert, of Rimersburg, Julie Stehle of Clarion, Brian Hess of Clarion, and Michelle Burk of Sligo; two stepchildren, Andrew Fahringer and his wife, Jennifer, of Wind Ridge, and Trista Beary and her husband, Tyrell, of Knox; and six grandchildren, Colin Hess, Payton MacKinlay, Cora MacKinlay, Ashton MacKinlay, Johnathan, and Kaelynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his adopted mother, Judy Huey.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 66 at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in the funeral home with Rev. Harold Jacobson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, officiating.

Interment will be held in the Clarion Cemetery.
