Vern E. “Farmer” Over Sr., age 75, of Sligo, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Clarion after a courageous battle with cancer.

Farmer was born on October 22, 1940 in Sligo; son of the late Harold and Arveda Elder Over.

Vern graduated from Clarion Area High School in 1959.

Farmer was a farmer all of his life and also drove Truck.

Vern was a member of the Monroe Chapel United Methodist Church in Sligo.

Farmer enjoyed tractor pulling, snowmobiling, hunting, farming, and watching the Steelers.

Vern is survived by his children, Sherri Crissman and her husband Barry of New Bethlehem, Vern Over Jr. and his wife Amy of Sligo, and Pam McCleary and her husband Terry Jr. of Knox, his four grandchildren,

Shanelle Crissman of New Bethlehem, Davey Over of Sligo, Susie Over of Sligo, and Terry McCleary III of Knox, a brother, Carl Over of Sligo, and a sister Doris “Dode” Stiltner of Sligo.

Farmer is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Gladys Taylor, Donald Over, Ronald Over, Louise Kifer, Thelma Benn, and Glenn “Windy” Over.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Brown, pastor of the Monroe Chapel Methodist Church in Sligo.

Interment will be held in the Over Family Cemetery.
