Victim Identified in I-80 Rollover Crash

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal accident that occurred yesterday morning on Interstate 80 in the Emlenton area.

According to Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer, the victim is 40-year-old Franky Munoz, of Youngstown, OH.

According to Clarion-based State Police Trooper Yockey, the accident happened at approximately 8:21 a.m. in the area of mile marker 44.7.

Franky Munoz, Jr., (age unknown), of Youngstown, OH, was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 when his vehicle traveled off the northern side of the roadway and barrel-rolled several times before coming to a final rest.

He was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle — 40-year-old Franky Munoz, Sr., who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash — was pronounced dead at the scene by Mr. Shaffer at 9:30 a.m.

Mr. Shaffer told exploreClarion.com the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and trunk.

PSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team, PSP R/1, PSP Franklin, Emlenton VFD, Emlenton Ambulance, St. Petersburg VFD, Knox Ambulance, and PennDOT assisted at the scene.

Interstate 80 was closed for approximately four hours while Pennsylvania State Police troopers conducted their investigation.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
