Memorial Ceremony Held in Honor of Two Locals at Sawmill Center for the Arts

COOKSBURG, Pa. – An unveiling ceremony presenting theater seats in honor of two local deceased women was held on July 22 at Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cooksburg.

Mike MacBeth and David Andrews, grandsons of Nellie MacBeth and Pat Fitzgerald, gathered for the unveiling ceremony in The Verna Leith Theatre at Sawmill Center for the Arts. The ceremony consisted of the presentation of theater seats named in memory of the two women.

Nellie MacBeth and Pat Fitzgerald sat next to each other every week to attend most of the productions held at The Verna Leith Theatre. They were often joined by their friends and family members.

The memorial seats were purchased in their honor by their dear friend Doreen Anderson.

The Sawmill Center for the Arts offers patrons the opportunity to “name” seats at the Verna Leith Theatre in memory of, or in honor of cherished individuals for a tax deductible gift of $250.00.
