Shirley Mae Wolfgang, of Hermitage, PA, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Sun., Aug 21, 2016, in Sharon Regional Health System, after a brief illness. She was 88.

Shirley was born in Sharon, PA on March 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Harry Lawrence and Dorothy G. (Darby) Means. She was a 1946 graduate of Sharon High School.

She was a homemaker, but several years ago, she worked as a beautician at the former, Columbia Beauty Shop in Sharon.

Shirley attended the Friday Senior Group at the Salvation Army and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Farrell. In her younger years while raising her boys, she was very active in the local Cub Scouts program. Shirley loved to write poetry and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

She was the widow of Paul L. Wolfgang Jr.. whom she married on April 10, 1950. He died on Dec. 6, 1993. She is survived by her sons, Carl E. Wolfgang and his wife, Janie,of Rockland, PA and William E. Wolfgang and his wife, Sharon, of Point of Rocks, MD, along with 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Delma Wolfgang, of Chesapeake, VA, and her former daughter-in-law, Carol Johnson, of Norfolk, VA, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dale A. Wolfgang and her sister, Gertrude I. Dickson.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25th, with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment at America’s Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
