YMCA News: Healthy Kids Running Series Practice Set

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. — On Sunday, September 11th about 50 Healthy Kids Running Series participants put on their running shoes and went to the Clarion County Park for a practice run. HKRS runners range in age from preschool through eighth grade.

(Dan Clark, YMCA Volunteer, runs the half mile with grades two and three at the Clarion County Park.)

The Healthy Kids Running Series is a five-week cross country program for kids to get them excited about running. Races take place once a week on Sundays. Each week kids earn points and at the end of the series the top boy and girl in each age category will receive a trophy.

The first race in the series will be held on September 18 at 4:30 pm. The series will continue for five consecutive weeks.

A second practice run will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 4:30 pm at the Clarion County Park. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Registered participants who have not picked up shirts and race bags will be able to pick them up at the Clarion County Park before the first race.

Registration for the series is located at www.healthykidsrunningseries.org. Runners are also able to pay $10.00 by the race on race day. Anyone who needs to register or pick up race bags should arrive between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the day of the race.
