Local NewsBridge Construction Completed on State Game Lands in Jefferson CountyJake BauerPublished September 23, 2016 4:25 amJEFFERSON CO., Pa. – The Jefferson and Clarion County Food and Cover Corps workers, along with the Northwest Forestry staff, have completed the construction of two bridges on State Game Lands #195 over Clover Run in Henderson Township, Jefferson County. Both of the new 45’ and 50’ bridges were built to replace existing fords that were constantly washing out and in need of repair. Land Management Supervisor George J. Miller stated, “Since working as a Land Manager on this State Game Lands, we’ve had to have these fords rebuilt several times due to flooding events. In addition, sometimes the water level is too high for people to cross safely, thus leaving a large portion of the game lands isolated during peak hunting and trapping seasons. These bridges will provide safe and reliable access to remote sections of the game lands for both the hunting and trapping public, as well as Commission employees.” According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, “Infrastructure projects, such as building these two bridges, are something that require money and manpower to bring to fruition. The Commission is currently seeking a license fee increase to help assure such projects will continue. Please contact your legislator and voice your opinion for this much-needed funding.” (Photo courtesy of George Miller and Pennsylvania Game Commission) Recent ArticlesFeatured Local Jobs: YMCA Aquatics Coordinator and Certified LifeguardsFeatured Local Job: Tire TechnicianClarion Man Charged with Allegedly Resisting Arrest During Warrant Execution Faces Hearing on TuesdayPandora’s Box?
