Clarion County YMCA Receives $30,000 from Anonymous Donor

CLARION, Pa. — An anonymous donor made a $30,000.00 capital gift to the Clarion County YMCA’s campaign to build a new full-service YMCA.

“Giving to the community positively impacts future generations,” said the donor. “Giving this gift is a way to ensure future generations have access to a state-of-the-art health and wellness facility, youth sports programs and senior services that cannot be provided in this county by other agencies.”

“Our family is pleased to support growth in Clarion County, and I am excited to see what the future holds,” said the donor. “A full-service YMCA in Clarion County brings new growth to the area, and I am happy to be part of it.”

The full-service Clarion County YMCA will be built near Exit 62 of I-80 and the Clarion Oaks Golf Course.

The new project, among other facilities, will include a swimming pool that will provide lap swimming, therapy, swimming lessons, and other year-round recreation activities typically provided by full-service YMCA’s in neighboring communities.

The Clarion County YMCA was recently awarded $3 million through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, and is only one of four YMCAs to receive this amount of state support in the history of the program.

“Clarion County YMCA feels very fortunate to join the elite group of YMCAs in the state to receive $3 million in funding. We are elated to receive this grant. This brings our total raised to over $10 million for the new Clarion County YMCA,” said Milissa Bauer and Al Lander, co-chairs of the Y’s capital campaign.

Most of the campaign commitments have been from local community businesses, families, and service organizations that have made substantial stretch pledges and gifts.

As Campaign Co-Chairs Milissa Bauer and Al Lander stated in the original press conference that launched the campaign, the success of the project will depend on everyone coming together as a team. It is an invitation for everyone to play a part in creating this once-in-a generation opportunity to build a new, full-service Clarion County YMCA.

The YMCA will continue to raise funds for the project, aligning the building’s updated design with the final fundraising goal.
