Cranberry Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Teams Claim KSAC Titles

SENECA, Pa. — The Cranberry girls’ and boys’ cross country teams took home titles at the KSAC Championships Thursday at Cranberry.

The girls’ team scored 25 points to double up second-place finisher Moniteau, which had 50 points, while the boys’ team nearly doubled up second-place Clarion outscoring the Bobcats 31-60.

In the girls’ race Karns City’s Rebecca Pennington took first place in a time of 20:30.2, while Cranberry had the second- and third-place finishers in Lauren Varsek (20:43.7) and Kristin Reynolds (20;47.7).

Clarion’s Forest Mills finished fourth in a time of 22:10, North Clarion’s Michaela Higgins was fifth in a time of 22:21.9, Clarion’s Katie Craig was sixth (22:30.3), Moniteau’s Kendall Grossman was seventh (22:36.7), Cranberry’s Chelsea McKissick eighth (22:46.8), Moniteau’s Samantha Hall ninth (23:02.8) and Keystone’s Taylor Geer 10th (23:06.8).

Cranberry had the top two finishers in the boys’ race with Harrison Keenan winning the race in a time of 17:18.4 and Sam Lander taking second in a time of 17:38.4.

Clarion’s Adam Bettwy was third (18:02.3), Keystone’s Broc Shoeppner was fourth (18:10.6), North Clarion’s Isaiah Griebel took fifth (18:15.1), Cranberry’s Nolan Brannon was sixth (18:16.6), North Clarion’s Jacob Bauer was seven (18:26.3), Andrew Forrest of Clarion-Limestone took eighth (18:28.7), Nathaniel Lerch of Clarion was ninth (18:31.7) and Logan Johnson of Cranberry finished 10th (18:49.1).

Cranberry also took home the junior high boys’ title with 22 points led by Matt Woolcock, who finished first in a time of 12:13.2.

Clarion won the junior high girls’ championship with a score of 49 led by first-place finisher Evelyn Lerch, who finished in a time of 13:59.5.
