Burns Signs Letter of Intent to Play Volleyball at IUP

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion senior outside hitter Olivia Burns signed her National Letter of Intent Wednesday to play volleyball at IUP.

At IUP, Burns will play for former Clarion University head coach Scott Pennewill. In his second year with the Crimson Hawks, Pennewill has his team at 19-8 overall and 10-6 in the PSAC Southwest. IUP beat Clarion, 3-1, Tuesday night at Tippin Gym.

Burns is the daughter of Jodi and Joe Burns of Shippenville. She will be the fourth member of her immediate family to play volleyball in college. Her mom is a Clarion Hall of Famer who also coached both volleyball and softball for the Golden Eagles as well. Her older sister Karly played at Mercyhurst and is now the head coach at Mercyhurst Prep, and her other older sister Ellie played at the University of Pittsburgh and is a coach with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association.
