William Eugene “Gene” McAlevy

William-Mcalevy-1479389025William Eugene “Gene” McAlevy 84 of Rocky Grove passed away at 5:45 P.M. on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born February 26, 1932 in Franklin he was the son of the late Harold E. and Anchor Iona Murray McAlevy.

Gene was employed as a carpenter for 27 years, having helped to build new homes and businesses one of which was working 4 years on the addition to the then Franklin Hospital; retiring from Joy Manufacturing, Reno Plant, after 24 years.

Gene and the former Jean Wurster of Oil City were married November 24, 1956, and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2003 after 46 years of marriage.

Surviving is a son David McAlevy and wife Pamela of Franklin; granddaughter Arashea McAlevy; a sister, and her husband Saunny and James Harrison, his good friend, Ruth Ritts of Cranberry, Several in-law’s and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are his wife Jean Wurster McAlevy; a sister Phyllis and her husband Walter (Bud) Deeter.

Gene regularly attended worship at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 W. Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 12:00P.M. – 1:45 P.M. Saturday.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randall Frenz, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Cooperstown Cemetery.
