Sandra-Fry-1480159560Sandra L. Fry of Rockmere passed away at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic from complications of a recent surgery.

She was in the arms of her husband when she died. Sandy was born on June 26, 1958 in Franklin, the daughter of Charles L. & Mariella Haun. She was a 1976 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and later, of the Pittsburgh Technological Institute.

She was employed by Quaker State’s IT department until they departed Oil City. Immediately hired by Joy Global, her career began to flourish. She became a Managing Director for Joy’s IT department and later had a support staff in the U.K., South Africa, Australia, and China. She traveled frequently to all of these countries and was very proud of her career with Joy. She retired from Joy in August, 2013. In 2012, Sandy was named by the “Pittsburgh Magazine” as one of the top 50 female executives in Western Pennsylvania, an honor that she cherished!

On August 11, 1984, Sandy married Bob Fry. Together they had many adventures. They traveled in one of Bob’s airplanes throughout the United States and spent many hours flying off the Allegheny river in the family float plane. She loved to play tennis and frequently beat Bob at golf, a fact of which he was constantly reminded. Bob and Sandy also traveled together to Japan, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Sandy was also a partner in Short Street Motor Cars.

An excellent cook, for twenty years Sandy hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners for all of the Fry family. Everybody in the neighborhood was always invited and nobody left hungry.

In addition to her husband Sandy is survived by her brother, Danny (Kim) Haun of Polk, her sister, Patty Ingran of Delcambre, LA. Her brothers-in-law, Richard (Marie)Fry of Oil City, and Dan (Daryl)Fry also of Oil City. She was fond of all the nieces and nephews: Jamie (Brandon)Johnson of Erie, Adam (Katie) Haun of Franklin, and Jenna Haun of Franklin. Also : Brian Fry of Youngstown, Elizabeth (Kevin) Roth of Oil City, Steve Fry of Rockland, and Tom (Courtney)Fry of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Also surviving are her cat, Nellie and her close friends Dottie Moony and Eileen O’Brien.

Sandy’s family wishes to thank the ICU and Emergency staff at UPMC Northwest for their care and compassion during her frequent visits there. Also, the professionalism and care Sandy received at Oakwood Heights was far beyond all expectations. Finally, the Congregation of our “neighbors” at the Calvary United Methodist Church comforted us with their prayers and great meals provided to Bob when he looked hungry.
