Icy Roadway Causes Vehicle to Crash into Tree Off Route 338

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 338, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 1:38 p.m. on January 10, a 2008 Chrysler Aspen — driven by 68-year-old Robert T. Vanepps, of Knox — was traveling east on Route 338 and encountered an icy patch on the roadway. Vanepps lost control of the vehicle, and it crossed the westbound travel lane and off the roadway. Then, the vehicle hit a tree and came to a final rest off the south berm of the road.

Police say Robert Vanepps was not injured.

His passenger — 55-year-old Christina E. Vanepps, of Knox — was transported to Clarion Hospital for possible injuries.

Both occupants were using seat belts.
