North Clarion High School Qualifies for State Academic Decathlon Competition

ERIE, Pa. (EYT) — North Clarion High School was fifth overall and second in the small school division at the Pennsylvania Academic Decathlon Western Regional competition February 10-11 at McDowell High School in Erie.

North Clarion’s finish qualified it for states. Every single team member earned at least one of the 21 regional medals.

Aubree Kerle earned an incredible six medals including gold in essay and economics, silver in music, and bronze in art, literature, and science.

Josh Gearhart earned silver medals in art and interview as well as a bronze in social science.

Lucas Agnew earned the bronze in literature as well as a gold medal in math. In addition, Agnew broke a North Clarion school record for mathematics held since 2008 by Brad Ditz.

Trevor Amsler earned a silver in music and bronze medals in art and math.

Mollie Cochran took the bronze in art and a gold in speech, while Lia Evans brought home bronze medals in music and literature.

Kera Cussins earned the silver medal in interview, while Cassie Kriebel earned a silver medal in interview, and Dalton Brown earned a bronze in economics,

Also, Josh Gearhart broke the record in interview held by Aaron Dinger since 2014.  Trevor Amsler tied the school record in mathematics which he now shares with Scott Delaney and Charlie Bendal from 2012.
