Alzheimer’s Support Group to Meet Monthly in Clarion

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – For those who care for loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s, there is a support group in Clarion that meets monthly.

The Alzheimer’s Association is committed to raising awareness of the fatal brain disease. The Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Main Street Center located at 516 Main Street, in Clarion.

All Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups are conducted by trained facilitators and are a safe place for caregivers, family, and friends of persons with dementia to:

– Develop a support system

– Exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions

– Talk through issues and ways of coping

– Share feelings, needs and concerns

– Learn about community resources.

“It’s so exciting to have this caregiver support group in the Clarion community, as it will offer care partners and loved ones much needed support and insight into this disease,” said Debbie Wisinski, Constituent Services Coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Association.

The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical, and emotional health as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.

In addition, they may provide a needed break from caregiving responsibilities.  These support groups are held monthly and run by trained volunteer facilitators from the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and are equipped with resources to provide to attendees for care, support, and education.
