CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Broasted Chicken has come to Clarion.
The Liberty House, located inside the Clarion VFW on Liberty Street, has opened its kitchen to the public. Genuine Broaster Chicken is the featured item on the menu.
VFW member Tom Zaber had the idea earlier this winter, and now he’s busy getting ready to open the restaurant after it not being used for many years.
“The kitchen used to be open one day a week, and after a while, they just decided to shut it down, but I thought this might be a good idea, so here we go again,” Zaber said.
The Liberty House’s grand opening is scheduled for Friday, March 17 — more famously known as St. Patrick’s Day.
The Liberty House will be open 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, Monday through Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Special promotions include Crazy Tuesdays, which is an all-you-can eat jumbo wings and french fries for $10.99. Flavors are hot, barbeque, butter garlic, dry cajun, mild, and Ruthie’s Special.
“I think we’ll do well with the wing specials, too. They are nice, big jumbo wings,” Zaber said.
Mondays include a senior discount, 10 percent off the order.
Fridays are fish fry days, with a choice of baked, breaded, or broiled.
Lunch items include wings, chicken sandwiches, broasted chicken combo, fish sandwiches, and a chicken tenders combo.
One unique, and delicious, item is the tomato gumbo, which comes with all dinners.
Dinners include four-piece broasted chicken, hot and spicy broasted chicken, fish, shrimp, wing dinner, which includes half a dozen whole wings, cole slaw, potato and tomato gumbo, and a shrimp and chicken combo.
Another unique item is the marinated, broasted T-bone pork chop.
There are plans to have a drive-up where people can pick up their food outside the restaurant after ordering it.
An additional note to emphasize is that although the restaurant is located in the VFW, the restaurant is open to the public.
Zaber also said all major credit cards are accepted.
