CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Flash Flood Warning continues for Clarion County and surrounding areas.

FLOODING SHUTS DOWN ROUTE 208

State Route 208 was shut down between Shippenville and Knox around 6:30 p.m. due to flooding. It has since reopened.

Flooding was reported on several other roadways throughout the area, including State Route 68 in southern Clarion County and State Route 208 in the Fryburg/Marble area.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flood Warning for… Armstrong County in west central Pennsylvania… Clarion County in west central Pennsylvania…

* Until 915 AM EDT Saturday.

* At 921 PM EDT, radar indicated that heavy rain had tapered off in the warned area.

— FLOODING…Occurring. Numerous incidents reported.
— ESTIMATED RAINFALL…2 to 3 inches.
— ADDITIONAL RAINFALL…A tenth to quarter inch.

Runoff from the heavy rainfall will continue through the night. Ongoing flooding will thus continue for several hours…and minor
flooding may continue to develop as the runoff further swells small streams. Water will slowly recede after midnight.

This flood warning replaces the flash flood warning which expires at 9:30 pm edt.

Heed all road closure barriers and do not drive through areas where water is flowing over the road.

Be especially cautious at night, when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
