Tuesday’s HS Baseball Roundup: Clarion Shuts Down Keystone

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) — Behind multiple-hit games from Spencer Miller, Nate Datko, Skylar Rhoades and Kyle Patterson, Clarion kept its hopes for the top seed in the District 9 Class 1A playoffs alive with a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Keystone at the Clarion County Park.

Miller was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Datko was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Rhoades was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Patterson was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Reed Anthony added a solo home run for the Bobcats, while Dominic Fleming doubled and scored.

Ryan Anthony got the win going four innings allowing three hits while striking out three. Rhoades pitched a scoreless fifth striking out the side.

Paul Kallenbach took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings allowing eight runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out one.

KARNS CITY 14, UNION 0, 6 INNINGS

RIMERSBURG, Pa. — Scoring five in the fourth and nine in the sixth Karns City blew by Union, 14-0 in six innings, to pick up a road victory.

The Gremlins needed just five hits thanks to 12 walks and four Union errors.

Tyler Yough scored three times while adding an RBI, and Markus Lantz drove in three runs while going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for KC. Stephen O’Donnell also scored twice as did Nolan Riley, while Cameron Blair had a double and an RBI

Lucas Bowser was 2-for-3 for Union with Hunter Johnston adding a double.

Eric Dodd got the win allowing three hits while striking out nine.

Bowser took the loss going five innings allowing five runs, three earned, on three hits and six walks while striking out two.

A-C VALLEY 19, FOREST AREA 1, 3 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. — A-C Valley pounded out 12 hits and used an 11-run third inning to pick up its second win of the year, 19-1 in three innings, over Forest Area at West Forest.

Austin Kriebel and Matt Thompson each had a pair of doubles for the Falcons, while Aaron Busch added a triple.

Kriebel was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Thompson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs and Busch was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for A-C Valley.

Also for the Falcons, Lucas Larimore went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Joe DeHart was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Trent Chalmers scored three times, Jeff Ginn went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs and Tony Thompson crossed the plate twice.

Aiden Quinn had the lone hit and RBI for Forest Area.

Luke Whitcomb got the victory going three innings allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out four.
