Clarion County YMCA Announces Swim Lesson Registration, Opening of Borough Swimming Pool

CLARION, Pa. — Clarion Borough will open the Borough Swimming Pool on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

The pool season was set back a week due to renovations that took place late this spring to repair a crack in the pool and fix a leak. The Borough Pool is located at 217 Liberty Street in Clarion.

The pool will be open 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Pool passes will be available at the pool beginning Saturday, June 10. Family passes which include up to five people will remain priced at $210.00, individual passes are $110.00 and day rates are $5.00 per person. Children under age two receive free admission.

The Clarion County YMCA will operate the pool again this summer. The YMCA manages the lifeguards and coordinates all pool parties and weekly programs. Jason Brinkley has been hired as the pool manager for the summer

Swim Lessons

The Clarion County YMCA has announced three sessions of summer swim lessons for local youth. Swim lessons are packaged as a group and run in three week sessions. Sessions are available June 19 – July 8, July 9 – July 29, and July 30 – August 19. Private lessons are also available by request.

ME & MY SHADOW — This class is for infant/toddler age. A parent or guardian will enter the water with the child and assist in learning. The focus of this class is on getting used to the water and having fun. Little ones will kick, float, blow bubbles, jump in with assistance, sing songs and more! $40 per session.

BEGINNERS — This class is for preschoolers who are ready to be away from mom or dad. Class will focus on putting the face in the water, blowing bubbles, kicking, floating, floating on the back, freestyle kicking and more. The child must be able to listen to instruction while sitting at the side of the pool. Instructors will work with the children one at a time. $60 per session.

INTERMEDIATE — This class will focus on standing dives, kneeling dives, freestyle technique and backstroke technique. Treading water and water safety will be introduced. $60 per session.

ADVANCED — This class is designed for swimmers who want to learn the competitive strokes of freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly. Streamlines, dives and turns will be practiced in addition to the four strokes. This class is taught by former competitive swimmers who have years of experience in the water. $60 per session
