Reed’s Family Restaurant in Knox Closes Doors

KNOX, Pa. (EYT) — Reed’s Family Restaurant and Pizzeria on Main Street in Knox has closed for good.

The Reeds opened for business in September of 2012.

Reed’s Family Restaurant was formerly Vito and Connie’s Pizza, which had been closed for a number of years.

According to owner Paula Reed, she and her husband, Stanley, made the decision to close the restaurant about a month ago.

Family and other work commitments were the major factors in the decision, according to Paula.

“We have a three-year-old girl, and my husband has a full-time job at Structural Modulars, so we just didn’t have the time to commit to the restaurant,” Paula said. “It required more time than we could afford.”

Paula explained part of the process that went into the decision.

“When I became pregnant with my son, who is now 18 and headed to college, the doctors told me he was my miracle baby, and it was extremely unlikely that I would ever be pregnant again.”

Paula became pregnant with her daughter after the couple purchased the restaurant, and this added to her time needed for family.

Additionally, Paula has moved on to another full-time job and is going to school to become a nurse.

“The hard part of closing is that we will miss all the wonderful people we’ve met,” continued Paula.

She said the building that houses the restaurant could be used for another type of business, but if someone chooses to operate it as a restaurant, the recipes will be included. A liquor license will not be part of the deal as the family sold it.

There are two rented apartments that come with the property. Call 814-319-3629 for more information.
