Clarion County Commissioners Approve Contracts, Salary Items in Short Meeting

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Clarion County Commissioners Wayne Brosius and Ed Heasley wasted no time in getting down to business at the group’s regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday morning. Brosius chaired the meeting for Ted Tharan who was not in attendance.

Only four items of business awaited approval by the commissioners.

• Approval was granted for the advertising of bids for the paving of Administration Drive.

• A three-month renewal contract on behalf of Human Services with Helpmates, Inc. for homemaker services was approved at a total cost of $16.34 per hour.

• A new contract on behalf of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/EI with Barbara Cherico for consultation services as requested. Cherico is retiring and she will continue as a consultant to assist in the transition of a new deputy administrator. The consultant rate is $21.84 per hour, effective July 6 to December 31. The county match is $2.18 per hour.

• Approved county expenditures, including $870,236.94 for the General Fund, 911 checking for $70,118.46, and Human Services for $345,687.10.

In a Salary Board meeting that followed the commissioners’ meeting, three new hires and one promotion were approved.

• Julie McGuire will be filling the vacant judicial administrative assistant full-time, non-exempt position at an annual salary of $19,706.00, effective July 17, 2017.

• Another new hire in courts was Jamie Kyle, filling the vacant law clerk position. The position we will be full-time, non-exempt at an annual salary of $38,144.00, effective July 31, 2017.

• OES/911 was approved for a new hire of Kristie McKee, and she will be filling the vacant dispatcher position. The position will also be full-time, 42 hours a week, non-exempt at an hourly wage of $10.27, effective July 9, 2017.

• OES/911 was also approved for the promotion of Abigail Mills after she completed training and is now a certified dispatcher. An hourly wage of $11.57 was approved.

The next regular Commissioner/Salary/Retirement Board meetings are scheduled for July 25 at 9:00 a.m. at the Clarion County Administrative Building on Main Street.
