Bail Denied for Accused OC Rapist, Citizen of UK, After Stating ‘He Will Be Leaving Country ASAP’

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey denied bail for an accused Oil City rapist, a citizen of the United Kingdom, who made statements at his arraignment that he would be leaving the country as soon as possible.

According to court documents, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 44-year-old John George Whitelegge, of Oil City.

According to the criminal complaint, around 6:54 p.m., on Sunday, July 2, a victim, her mother, and a Children and Youth Services delegate were interviewed at the Oil City Police Department.

The complaint states that the victim told police that Whitelegge had repeatedly made her perform oral sex on him and that he had raped and sodomized her.

The victim said that the incidents with Whltelegge started shortly after she turned 15, and that Whltelegge told her that 15 was the age of consent, according to the complaint.

Whitelegge also allegedly took nude photos of her with his phone and had her take several nude selfies with his phone, the complaint states.

The victim said Whitelegge forced her to take the photos and threatened to hurt her if she told anyone, the complaint continues.

Police obtained a search warrant for Whitelegge’s cell phone. A forensic analysis of the phone was conducted, and police found multiple nude images of the juvenile victim, the complaint states.

During followup interviews, the victim stated that from April to June of 2017, Whitelegge had sodomized her more than three dozen times.

Whitelegge was arraigned at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, in District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office on the following charges:

  •  Statutory Sexual Assaut — 11 Years and Older, Felony 1
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Assault — Person Less Than 16, Felony 1
  •  Aggravated Indecent Assault — Complainant Less Than 16, Felony 2
  • Photograph/Film/Depict on Computer Sex Act, Knowingly or Permitting Child, Felony 2
  • Child Pornography, Felony 2

Bail was denied after Whitelegge, a citizen of the United Kingdom, made statements that he will be leaving the country as soon as possible.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, in front of Judge Lowrey.
