Details Released: Knox Man Struck by Car on Interstate 80

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Clarion have released details surrounding an accident involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 80 in Monroe Township.

According to Clarion-based State Police, 24-year-old Jacob Siegel, of Knox, was traveling west on Interstate 80 in Monroe Township around 2:20 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle exited the roadway and traveled up an embankment.

Siegel’s vehicle then struck a concrete barrier causing it to roll over before it came to a final rest in the median.

Police said Siegel then exited his vehicle and ran onto the roadway into the path of a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by Chunfeng Lu, 59, of Cecil, Pa.

Siegel was taken to Clarion Hospital before being flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of serious injuries.

He remains hospitalized while recovering from his injuries.

Lu was using a seat belt and not injured.

Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1 and Clarion Hospital EMS assisted at the scene.
