Piney Dam Spillway Repair Project Complete; Clarion River Reservoir Will Return to Normal Level on April 1

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — It’s official. Brookfield Renewable, operator of Piney Dam, notified dock permit owners this week that the Piney Dam Spillway Repair project is complete.

The Clarion River reservoir will be back to its normal level by April 1, 2018. Brookfield also reminded dock owners that docks should be secured and moved inland, so they do not break apart and float away when the water level rises on April 1.

Work barges were pulled from the river during the last few weeks, but the notice from Brookfield makes in official.

In 2015, Brookfield lowered water levels five feet to do repair work on the gates at the spillway. When the work began, it was discovered that the gates, nearly 100 years old, needed to be replaced. The gates that existed prior to their replacement were part of the original construction in the 1920′s.

There were no dock permit fees during the project.
