roundcubeJean C. Lake, 83, a longtime Franklin resident, died peacefully at 3:20 AM Tuesday, December 19, 2017, shortly after her arrival in the emergency department of UPMC-Northwest in Seneca.

Jean was born January 27, 1934 in Akron, OH a beloved daughter of the late Walter L. and Roma Patterson Chalfant.

She was a graduate of Garfield High School in Akron, and attended business college for two years.

She married Robert C. Lake in Akron, OH on December 23, 1955, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2016.

Jean had worked in secretarial and administrative positions most of her life with various companies through the years, retiring in June of 1999 from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and playing Bingo, as she was able. Most important to her always was her family. She will be forever remembered by them as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Jean is survived by a daughter, Susan Hoover of Franklin and by two sons: Dr. Gary B. Lake and his wife Jane of Grand Junction, CO and Richard W. Lake also of Franklin. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Courtney, Maura, Colin and Declan Lake, and one great-granddaughter, Alexa Lake.

She is also survived by a sister, Judy Parsons and her husband Russ of Akron, OH; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Private interment will be with her husband in Graham Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed in her name to the charity of one’s choice.
