Laurence G. “Larry” Meehan

Laurence-Meehan-1514559888Laurence G. “Larry” Meehan, 81, of Franklin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, two daughters and three grandchildren on Tuesday December 26, 2017 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Born in Franklin on January 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret Cotter Meehan.

Larry and his wife loved to go fishing together and have many fond memories of those times. He enjoyed attending many local softball and football games. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and enjoyed watching many western movies.

Larry was known to read the newspaper every day from front to back cover.
On January 15, 1982 he married the love of his life, the former Twila Socha and they spend 37 years of marriage together.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; Mary Koster of Douglassville, PA, Kelly Brown of Oil City, and Paul Meehan D’Amico of Franklin; eight grandchildren, Charlie, Wendy, Jade, Brian, Jarrod, Dontae, Jackson and Lewis; seven great-grandchildren, Isiah, Amelia, Krystal, MaKenzi, Monroe, Lexi, Von and one on the way, Penelope.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Thomas Meehan Jr. and Richard Meehan; three sisters, Josephine St. Claire, Margie Gebhard, and Rita Peoples; and a grandson, Reggie Brown Jr.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 – 4:00 Thursday January 4, 2018. A time for sharing stories and celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Hospital.
