Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect for Rimersburg, East Brady

CLARION COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – A Boil Water Advisory (BWA) remains in effect for the Rimersburg and East Brady areas.

According to Dana Solida, Rimersburg Borough Secretary, the recent weather is to blame for the necessity of the advisory, “Two of the well heads, from where our water is supplied in East Brady, were submerged in the flooding Friday.”

Officials are currently uncertain how long the Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect. Decisions about water testing will be discussed at the next Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection meeting.

Under a Boil Water Advisory, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that water be brought to a rolling boil for one minute before it is consumed in order to kill protozoa, bacteria and viruses. At altitudes above 2,000 meters (6,561 feet), boiling should be extended to 3 minutes,[2] as the lower boiling point at high altitudes requires more time to kill such organisms.
