Betty J. Bracken

Betty J. Bracken, 94, of DuBois, PA, formerly of Mahaffey died Monday, March 12, 2018, at Christ the King Manor.

Born on July 16, 1923, in Parma, OH, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Palsho) Postlethwait.

On August 17, 1963, she married Jack Bracken. He preceded her in death in October of 1998.

She was a 1941 graduate of the DuBois Area High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Slippery Rock University.

Betty retired as a physical education teacher in DuBois, Reynoldsville, and Kane after many years of service.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She was a tutor for the Mid State Literacy Council, previously involved with the Girl Scouts of America, and was also an avid reader.

She was cared for locally be her nephews, George Postlethwait of Rockton, PA, and John Bracken and his wife Phyllis of Mahaffey, PA, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Bracken, and her brother, George Postlethwait.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A scriptural wake service will be prayed on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Clover Run Cemetery, Bell Township, Clearfield County.
