State Police Release Details on DUI-Related Crash on Route 66 Involving Three Vehicles

PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a DUI-related crash occurred on Tuesday morning on State Route 66, on Paint Blvd., in Paint Township, Clarion County.

According to police, around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, a 2012 GMC Sierra, driven by 28-year-old Eric L. Hargenrader, of Shippenville, was traveling south in the northbound lane of State Route 66. His Sierra sideswiped a 2007 Western Star truck as it was traveling north on Route 66, positioned in the east side berm of the roadway attempting to avoid a collision.

After sideswiping the Western Star, the Sierra rotated in a counterclockwise direction and continued in a southerly direction and was struck by a 2014 GMC Acadia as it was traveling north in the northbound lane of Route 66.

The Sierra cam to a rest straddling the northbound lane of Route 66 facing east.

The Western Star came to a rest in the east berm of Route 66, approximately 290 feet north of the impact.

The Acadia came to a rest at the initial point of impact.

Hargenrader was not injured. It is unknown whether he was using a seat belt.

The Lisbon, Ohio driver of the Western Star and a passenger were using seat belts and were not injured.

Clarion Hospital EMS transported the driver of the Acadia, of Knox, to Clarion Hospital for injuries of unknown severity. She was using a seat belt.

According to police, Hargenrader will be charged with DUI and multiple summary offenses.

The names of the drivers of the Western Star and the Acadia were not released.
