Preparations Underway for Annual Fryburg Mayfest Celebration

FRYBURG, Pa., (EYT) – Plans are well underway for the 26th annual Fryburg Mayfest celebration on May 25 and May 26.

This year’s theme is “Color Me America.”

Organizers say many of last year’s favorite attractions will return along with a few big surprises for this year.

The 2018 festival will kick off on Friday, May 25, at 4:00 p.m. with the Fryburg Sportsman Club Fish Fry. At 4:30, there will be dinner at PJ’S Country Market, and at 6:00 p.m., Jam Band Jami will take the stage for an evening of live music.

Friday will also include a Corn Hole Tournament at the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, which will be held in memory of Dick Kapp, with proceeds benefiting Alzheimer’s Association.

The 5k Fun Run/Walk will begin at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church in memory of Kami Dinger.
.
The fun will continue on Saturday, May 26, from 8:00 a.m. to dusk with a rummage sale, craft show, tractor show, car cruise, parade, games, food, and much more.

Free hayrides will be available throughout the day to transport visitors from all the events.

The 2018 celebrations will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk presented by Rizer.

Mayfest is sponsored by the Washington Township Community Association, which was formed 27 years ago to promote the heritage of Fryburg and Marble by bringing families and friends together in celebration.
