5ac7d0e8bea37Michael A. Winger, 56, of Oil City, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home early Friday morning, April 6, 2018.

He was born in Oil City on May 15, 1961, a son of the late Lester J. and Mary Grace (Groner) Winger.

Mike was a 1979 graduate of Venango Christian High School.

He was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Oil City.

Mike enjoyed collecting model cars, and detailing automobiles. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog, ‘Grace.’ Above all, Mike will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his desire to make people happy. Through his work as a caregiver which he enjoyed so much, he loved having the opportunity to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

Mr. Winger was previously employed by Community Ambulance Service, Grandview Healthcare, and Sugar Valley Lodge. He was currently employed by UPMC Northwest as a patient care associate in the behavioral health department.

Michael is survived by three sisters: Sharon Sutley and her husband John of Kennerdell, Theresa Daugherty and her husband Robert of Victory Heights, and Rita Murray and her husband Mark of Sugarland, Texas; and his nieces and nephews: Benjamin and Lauren Sutley, Saxon, Chandler, and Cameron Daugherty, Daniel and Sarah Murray, Larry Winger, Jr., and Chad, David, Jason, Gary, Heather, Robbie, and Melissa Winger.

Also surviving are numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as his close friends, Curt and Becky Bish of Oil City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Grace Winger; and two brothers, Larry and Gary Winger.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday (April 10th) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday (April 11th) at 12 Noon with Father John Miller, pastor of St. Stephen Church, officiating. Private interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell.
