Strattanville Man Faces Assault Charges Following Domestic Dispute

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Strattanville man was charged with assault stemming from an alleged domestic altercation on Monday in Clarion Township.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 42-year-old James Stewart McCoy III, of Strattanville.

PSP Clarion received a call on Monday, April 9, requesting assistance in a domestic disturbance. The caller, a known woman, reported that her sister was being beaten by her boyfriend. The caller related that she saw a fresh injury to her sister’s face and was afraid for her safety, according to the criminal complaint.

Trooper Jarrett arrived at the residence and made contact with the victim and James McCoy. They allegedly told Trooper Jarrett that everything was okay and no assistance was needed. However, it was noted that “both appeared out of breath and the victim had a fresh, bleeding wound on the left side of her forehead,” the complaint states.

The victim allegedly stated that she was shoved into a bedside table during the argument with McCoy, at which time she suffered the injury.

McCoy was arraigned at 1:00 a.m. on April 9 on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $2,500.00 monetary bail, McCoy was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on April 9.

According to online information from Clarion County Jail inmate data, McCoy was released on April 10.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 17 at 1:30 p.m. with Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn presiding.
