Tire Bounces Across I-80, Strikes Vehicle in Clarion Township

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a tire that bounced across the median from the opposing lanes of traffic caused a one-vehicle crash on I-80 on Monday.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 1:47 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 57-year-old Roberta J. Schwartz, of Altoona, was operating a 2016 Ford Transit, traveling west on Interstate 80 in the left lane.

Schwartz’s vehicle struck a tire that bounced across the median from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane.

Schwartz was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage to its front end. It came to a final rest facing west in the median.
