Man Shot in Neck During Altercation in Forest County

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — A 31-year-old man was rushed to a Pittsburgh-area hospital after he was shot in the neck early Sunday morning during a dispute in Forest County.

Marienville-based State Police said a 52-year-old man and a 31-year-old man engaged in a physical altercation around 5:00 a.m. at a camp located at 201 Graham Farm Road in Kingsley Township.

During the altercation, the defendant — identified in court documents as 52-year-old Jon Joseph Taylor of Munhall, Pa. — allegedly retrieved a revolver from his vehicle.

The 31-year-old victim, whose name has not been made public, then allegedly attempted to assault the defendant. The defendant proceeded to shoot the unarmed victim in the neck.

The victim was transported to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment of severe injuries. As of Sunday evening, he was listed in stable condition.

Taylor was not injured in the altercation.

He was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

Taylor was arraigned before The Honorable Judge Todd Woodin and placed in the Warren County Jail after failing to post $75,000.00 bail.

Taylor faces a preliminary hearing on August 7 at 10:00 a.m. before The Honorable Judge Daniel L. Miller.
