Clarion Woman Accused of Throwing Man to Ground, Assaulting Him During Domestic Incident

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion woman is facing assault charges stemming from a domestic incident in which she allegedly threw a man to the ground and assaulted him.

According to court documents, on September 2, the Clarion Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 30-year-old Jessica Lynn Greenawalt, of Clarion.

Around 8:45 a.m. on September 2, Clarion County 9-1-1 dispatched Officer Wright, of the Clarion Borough Police Department, to 144 Penn Avenue for an active physical domestic. The assistance of the Clarion University Police Department was requested.

According to a criminal complaint, Officer Wright and Officer Slagle, of the Clarion University Police Department, arrived on the scene around 8:51 a.m. and made contact with Jessica Lynn Greenawalt. Greenawalt told officers that she and a known man were fighting, and the known man left on foot.

Officer Slagle left the residence to locate the known man.

According to the complaint, Greenawalt told Officer Wright that the known man woke up in a bad mood, and she asked him for money. The known man told her that he was leaving, so she blocked the doorway. She stated that the known man then attempted to push her out of the way unsuccessfully.

Greenawalt allegedly stated that she threw the known man on the ground, climbed on top of him, and would not let him up. When Greenawalt’s minor son came down the stairs, she released the known man, according to the complaint.

Officer Slagle then radioed dispatch to advise that he had located the known man and requested Officer Wright’s assistance at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Veterans Drive.

The known man advised the officers of the same details as Greenawalt reported.

Fresh open scratches on the known man’s face, chest, arms, and back were observed. Photographs were obtained, the complaint states.

Officers returned to Greenawalt’s residence and advised her that she was being arrested for domestic violence.

Greenawalt was arraigned at 12:05 p.m. on September 2 on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

She is free on $2,500.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on September 11 in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller.
