OIL CITY, Pa. — Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps Members, volunteers, and staff join Bridge Builders Community Foundations in patriotic acts of service to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks during the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Volunteers will work to renovate a home on East 3rd Street in Oil City Pennsylvania, joining hundreds of thousands of citizens across the country in this American tradition.

This home at 304 East 3rd Street Oil City is owned by Bridge Builders Community Foundations.

Trenton Moulin, the Executive Director of Bridge Builders approached Keystone SMILES asking to collaborate in the renovations. These renovations will not only improve this house, but the street and neighborhood will also be positively impacted.

On September 11, AmeriCorps members from surrounding counties will join members who live and serve in Venango County. Our Goal: to help a family in need of housing and to improve the neighborhood.

September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of efforts, originally launched in 2002 that promotes community service on 9/11 as an annual and forward-looking tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks.

Since September 11, 2001, millions of Americans have come together with a common purpose to honor 9/11 and commemorate the tragedy through volunteer service. Together, they represent a shared belief that by neighbor helping neighbor, we can make our country stronger and better for decades to come.
