Newcomb Injury, Bad Second Half Ends C-L’s Season

BROCKWAY, Pa. (D9Sports) — All season Clarion-Limestone’s football team knew it was probably one injury away from having an uphill climb.

Unfortunately for the Lions, that injury occurred late in the first half of a 22-12 loss to Coudersport in the District 9 Class 1A semifinals Friday night at Brockway’s Varischetti Field ending C-L’s quest for its first District 9 title-game appearance since 2004.

The Lions led 12-0 at halftime and had outgained Coudersport 269 yards to 70. But apparently, late in the first half, C-L’s all-star running back/safety Austin Newcomb suffered a stinger injury and wasn’t able to play in the second half.
