Venango County Woman Waives Hearing on Drug Charges Related to Overdose Incident

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Venango County woman waived her hearing on drug charges on Wednesday stemming from an overdose incident.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Jesika Raine McLaughlin, of Oil City, waived her preliminary hearing on Wednesday, November 14, in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish on the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (five counts)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor (two counts)
  • Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor

She remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.

The case has been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Friday, November 9, around 12:14 p.m., Oil city Police and Rescue 7 were dispatched to a residence on Allegheny Avenue for a medical emergency.

Officers made contact with Jesika McLaughlin, the resident of the home.

According to the complaint, further investigation into the incident revealed McLaughlin to be in possession of the following items:

  • a set of scales,
  • three syringes,
  • a white belt used as a tie off,
  • a spoon with the residue of a controlled substance,
  • a silver cylinder containing wet filters which are known to be consistent with being used for the process of injecting controlled substances via syringe,
  • a small clear bag containing residue of a white substance, and
  • a small amount of marijuana.

The complaint also notes that officers received information about a recent incident where another individual experienced an overdose, related to controlled substances, at the residence with McLaughlin present, and McLaughlin sought aid in assisting the overdosed person in her home.

McLaughlin was arraigned at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.
