Clarion Man Accused of Grabbing Woman, Throwing Her to the Ground During Domestic Dispute

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man allegedly grabbed a woman and threw her to the ground during a domestic dispute.

Court documents indicate on Monday, November 19, the Clarion Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 22-year-old Brian Scott Detrick Jr., of Clarion.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:01 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, Officers Wright and Fox, of the Clarion Borough Police Department, were dispatched to a residence on Grand Avenue for a reported domestic dispute.

The officers arrived at the scene and spoke to a known female victim who reported that she and Brian Scott Detrick Jr. had a verbal altercation. She stated that she yelled at Detrick, and he grabbed her by her left wrist, pulled her, stopping her from going upstairs, grabbed her by her biceps, squeezed, and then threw her to the ground, holding her down briefly, according to the complaint.

The victim said that Detrick then fled in a black Chevrolet Cobalt.

The complaint notes that Officer Wright observed bruising and redness on the victim’s right bicep.

The victim provided a written statement and was advised to call 9-1-1 if Detrick returned.

The officers left the scene and requested a BOLO for Detrick and the black Chevrolet Cobalt. They were advised by dispatch that Detrick had returned to the residence. The officers then returned to the residence and placed Detrick in custody.

According to the complaint, after being read his rights, Detrick agreed to speak to Officer Wright and reported that he was walking up the steps in the residence and fell, causing him to fall on the victim.

The complaint states that when Officer Wright advised Detrick that he did not believe that story, Detrick went on to admit that he and the victim were in a verbal altercation when he grabbed her by her wrist. He said that he grabbed the victim by both arms and held her down on the ground.

Detrick said he then left the residence because he did not want to go back to jail, according to the complaint.

Detrick was arraigned at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, in Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller’s office on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $1,500.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, with Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn presiding.
