Icy Road Causes Rollover Crash in Richland Township

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a rollover crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in Venango County was the result of ice on the roadway.

According to police, around 4:58 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, Ryan E. Sharrar, 41, of Seneca was operating a 2000 Toyota RAV-4, traveling south on State Route 38 in Richland Township.

Police say Sharrar lost control of his vehicle on an ice-covered portion of State Route 38 and it began to spin in a counter-clockwise direction. The vehicle then struck a fence east of the road and began to roll. It came to a final rest on its roof in a pasture east of Route 38.

Jones was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department, Emlenton Ambulance, and Venango Towing assisted at the scene.
