Lois C. Kozek, 90, a former Franklin resident, was called home, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL, from complications arising from a fall in mid-November.

Born in Franklin on July 5, 1928, to Charles and Jennie (Jane) Chapman, she was a 1945 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

Lois met the love of her life, John, on a blind date arranged by friends. Even though they came from different backgrounds, they fell in love and were married on November 20, 1948, in Jamestown, NY. It was a great love that lasted until his death in 2012.

Lois worked in medical records at the former Franklin Hospital and in the office of Dr. Fred Padin. She was an avid reader and grammarian. She enjoyed her Red Hat groups, Bible study, and a decades-long group of friends known as “the lunch bunch.” Both Lois and John had a heart for the poor and the hungry, actively participating in several humanitarian groups throughout the years of their marriage.

Lois is survived by son Stephen Kozek and his wife Bettie of Guys Mills, daughter Maria and husband Scott Morissette, of Palm Bay, FL, daughter Denise and husband David Hoosier, of Salem, VA, grandchildren Crystal Kozek, Catlin Biles, Ashley (Ryan) Kelly, great grandchildren Alexandra, Mia, Cole, Chase, Daylynn, Natalie, and a great-great granddaughter, Aubree. She also has four step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Also surviving is her brother, James Chapman (Marge) of Highland, Indiana, her sister, Marilyn Howard, of Oil City and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Kozek.

Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin. A Christian Wake Service will be held Friday at 4 PM in the funeral home, with Deacon Richard O’Polka of St. Patrick Church, presiding.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, Franklin with Monsignor John J. Herbein, pastor officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
