5c4233b3d7384Thomas Ray Anderson, 82, formerly of Oil City and Tionesta and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville, passed away there Friday, January 18, 2019.

He was born April 16, 1936 in Oil City, a son of Donald Kay and Jane Marie Klingensmith Anderson. He married Mary Ellen Osten November 18, 1958 and she survives.

Tom was a 1954 graduate of Oil City High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. A Veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957 in intelligence in the Philippines.

Tom worked from 1957 to 1958 for Snyder Brothers as a sheet metal mechanic and then for Wolf’s Head Oil Refining Company, Reno, later Pennzoil in shipping, receiving, unit operator and primarily sales, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement from Pennzoil, he worked in sales for Klasen Oil Company, Cochranton for 10 years.

A member of the Tionesta Church of God, Tom was a former Boy Scout Leader in Oil City, was an avid boater, and enjoyed waterskiing, camping and fishing. The family cottage in West Hickory provided years of meaningful family time spent together.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Mary Ellen, include three sons, David Mark Anderson (Jane) of Meadville, Todd R. Anderson (Mary Beth) of Mechanicsburg, and Michael Ray Anderson (Tammy) of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Martin (Rachel), Emily, Madigan, Erin, Drake, Jack and Nicole; a brother, Philip G. Anderson (Rina) of Oil City; two brothers-in-law, Dean Osten (Liby) of Springfield, MO and Allan Osten (Beverly) of Erie; three sisters-in-law, Sally DiMino of Costa Mesa, CA, Margaret (Peggy) Kidd of Tionesta, and Janice Osten of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a future date and time to be announced.
