MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man is behind bars after allegedly sending a threatening letter to the commander of the Clarion-based State Police barracks.
According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 72-year-old James William Miller, of Clarion, in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on December 28.
Around 1:30 p.m. on December 28, 2018, Corporal Krick, of the Clarion-based State Police, was opening incoming mail to the station when he discovered a letter addressed to the commander of the station. Due to Corporal Krick filling in as acting officer in charge, he took charge of the letter, which had a return address of Jim Miller, Millcreek Road, Clarion, Pa., according to a criminal complaint.
The following was written on the back of the envelope: “Victim-Families OK Kill Cops Destroyed our world!” the complaint states.
Upon opening the envelope, Corporal Krick found a two and a half page letter, with the writing covering both the front and back of the pages. The letter talked about “Kill cops,” pipe bombs, and the use of drones to drop bombs killing cops,” according to the complaint.
The complaint notes the letter also explained that Miller was upset about being cited by Trooper Jarrett for a motor vehicle crash that occurred on November 21, 2018, at the intersection of State Route 68 and Perkins Road in Monroe Township.
The complaint includes the following excerpt from the letter: “Copy Cat Killers Technology Drones. Bomb From the Sky, my world 366 days. Any fool-time 100. 2 Hits ground ?? 3X dead Cops!!! Stay alive any edge 4 survival. Now Your turn Inspire Hate.”
Based on the investigation, Miller was arraigned at 1:26 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, in front of Judge Schill on the following charge:
– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, with Judge Schill presiding.
