Driver Loses Control, Crashes into Rock Formation Near Tionesta Dam

TIONESTA TWP., Pa. (EYT) — One man was transported to an area hospital after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a rock formation in Tionesta Township, Forest County.

According to police, around 4:19 p.m. on Monday, February 11, Murnir O. Tijani, 65, of Princeton, N.J. was operating a 2012 Kia Soul, traveling north on State Route 36 just south of Tionesta Dam in Tionesta Township, Forest County.

Police say Mijani lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, traveled into the southbound lane, and exited the roadway on the western side, impacting a natural rock formation.

Tijani was wearing a safety belt and suffered no visible injuries, but was transported to UMPC Northwest by Tionesta Ambulance Service for high blood pressure.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department, Tionesta Ambulance Service, and Frank’s Auto & Sons Towing assisted at the scene.

Tijani was cited for a speeding violation.
