Two Struck by Vehicle in Turkey City, One Dead

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A vehicle struck two people in Turkey City late Saturday evening, leaving one man dead and a second person injured.

Clarion County 9-1-1 said the call came in around 11:15 p.m. for a motor vehicle accident near 1304 Route 338 in Richland Township, Clarion County.

Knox Ambulance Service, St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Sources say Jerry Dehart, 39, of Turkey City, and a second person whose name has not been released, were standing on Dehart’s property when they were struck by a vehicle traveling on State Route 338.

Clarion County Coroner Randall Stom said Dehart was transported to Clarion Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 1:48 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Erie.

The second person’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

The name of the driver has not been released.

The accident is believed to be DUI-related.

Clarion-based State Police were unable to release further information.

The investigation is ongoing.
