BRENNA CAMPBELL — JUNIOR — CLARION

Daughter of: Jim and Shari Campbell (mom is the volleyball coach at Clarion)
Sports Played: Volleyball and softball
Family Members Playing/Played Sports: Her father, Jim played for Clarion’s football, wrestling, and track and field team. Her mom, Shari played volleyball for Huntingdon, and Juniata College. Her grandfather played football at Norwin High School and for the University of Virginia, and her other grandfather played football in high school and played for Dakota State University.
2018-19 Highlights: She helped Clarion to the District 9 Class 1A title in volleyball as the starting setter and to PIAA quarterfinals while being named the District 9 MVP, an All-State performer and a first-team All-KSAC performer. In softball, she was the starting shortstop for a Clarion team that finished second in District 9 and advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals.
Post-High School Plans: She plans to attend a college after high school and plans to continue her volleyball career.

Q&A With Brenna Campbell

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
BC: My favorite sport to participate in is volleyball because the program has been in my family since I was young, the culture of all of the teams and the teams that I have played on are great and competitive. I love working hard for my team and the program I love.

D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
BC: My favorite memories from volleyball were making it to the semifinals and anytime with my volleyball team is a great memory, and my favorite softball memory is making it to the Elite Eight this past season.

D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
BC: I play high school sports because I love to compete and I love competing with my team. I enjoy the feelings you get from putting everything in and coming out with the win.

D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
BC: My parents have influenced my athletic career the most because they push me every day. My mom has created a great program where I get the opportunity to play and compete, and she pushes me and my teammates to become better. My dad pushes me out of the gym, he creates my lifting, jumping and agility workouts to help me in the gym and field. Both of my parents invest so much time and energy into making me the best version of me.

D9Sports: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be and why?
BC: I would like to change the uneven playing field with schools with the ability to recruit players from different geographic locations.

D9Sports: If you could be president for a day, what would be the one major thing you would do?
BC: If I was president for a day, I would work to help cure the homeless problem by offering them opportunity’s to help themselves and improving the mental health system.

D9Sports: What is your ideal place to live? County, City, Suburb? Why?
BC: I would live in a suburb because I want to experience both of lifestyles. Living in a small town, and then being able to go to a city whenever I want to.

D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
BC: I think that people who don’t know me would be surprised to know that I took singing lessons and figure skating lessons.

D9Sports: What is your strongest subject in school?
BC: Sciences and history

D9Sports: If there was one period in history or one event in history you could go back to, what would it be?
BC: I would go back to back to the first time women got the opportunity to participate in the 1900 Olympic games.

D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
BC: What is one sport I would play that isn’t offered at Clarion? I would play hockey because my cousin was drafted to play professional women’s hockey and I watched her win the gold medal in the USA Junior Olympic National Championship.
