Sligo Man Arrested Following Robbery in Piney Township

PINEY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a Sligo man is in custody following a robbery in Piney Township Sunday afternoon.

According to police, 73-year-old Thomas Burns, of Sligo, was taken into custody following a robbery, theft, and assault that occurred at a residence on State Route 68 in Piney Township around 4:27 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.

The victims are listed as a 38-year-old Sligo man and a 38-year-old Sligo woman.

Court documents indicate Burns was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, on the following charges:

– Robbery — Take Property From Other by Force, Felony 3
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
– Theft by Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3

Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
