Tionesta Man Killed in Fiery Crash

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a Tionesta man lost his life in a crash that occurred in Cranberry Township, Venango County, late Tuesday night.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 10:37 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, Casey L. Flowers, 32, of Tionesta, was operating a 2007 Dodge Dakota, traveling west on State Route 62 just east of Horsecreek Road in Cranberry Township.

Police say Flowers’ vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2019 Ford F150 XLT, operated by 60-year-old Mitchell Mansfield, of Pittsburgh.

Flowers’ vehicle spun 90 degrees and came to a final rest blocking the westbound lane, while Mansfield’s vehicle was pushed backward into the guide rail on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway, where it came to rest.

According to police, Flowers’ vehicle became engulfed in flames following the initial impact.

Flowers was found deceased at the scene.

Mansfield suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance, and then to UPMC Presbyterian by STAT MedEvac.

Flowers’ vehicle was towed from the scene by Venango Towing and Mansfield’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Minich’s Towing.
