According to sources, shots were fired around 10:50 p.m. on Friday at the Blooming Grove barracks located in Pike County in northeastern Pennsylvania. One trooper was leaving the barracks, and another was arriving. State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan confirmed that one trooper was killed and the other was injured and taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Scranton, Pa. It is reported that the trooper is in stable condition. During an interview on Saturday morning, Noonan said they really don’t have any solid information or a description of the shooter(s) but are making efforts to follow-up on several leads. Law enforcement officials from across the region, including New York and New Jersey, are helping with the manhunt. Several roads around the Blooming Grove barracks, including parts of Interstate 84, were closed this morning. Noonan is asking people in the area to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
