VICTORY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A 30-year-old Oil City man has died after being struck by a car along Route 8 on October 16.

Franklin-based State Police say around 8:18 p.m. on October 16, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on State Route 8, south of Fisherman’s Cove Road, in Victory Township, Venango County.

A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling south on SR 8 when the operator saw Sweetapple in his travel lane. The operator was not able to avoid the impact due to traffic congestion, police say.

He suffered major head injuries and was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, police say.

Sweetapple died on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh from injuries he received in the accident.
